J. ERIS

SOIL

back, arched
vertebrae, rose
one by one, sunrise of many worlds
bones in air

pale pink skies, a firstborn flush, the
silhouette of trees
black and deep of greenery

pain, abandonment
bullets laced with gentle melody
photographs within the howling sand

hand, move
fingers, grip
two by two, milkyways in every tear
buds of stone

bodies, careening through the air
fiery dirt roads, fields of silent grace
daffodils, of loss beneath the sun

others, days
steady holding shoulders, peace divine
kite-tails fluttering in eternal breeze.
